Need help with weight loss?

Could binge eating be part of the problem?

Binge Eating Disorder (BED) is a serious eating disorder characterized by frequently consuming large amounts of food. Almost everyone overeats once in a while; however, compulsive overeating episodes may be a sign of Binge Eating Disorder, making it very difficult to lose weight.

Other signs and symptoms of BED are:

  • Feeling out of control when eating.
  • Thinking about food all of the time.
  • Eating in secret.
  • Eating until uncomfortably full.
  • Eating to escape worry or relieve stress.
  • Feeling disgusted or ashamed after eating.

People that have BED may also have other emotional challenges such as insomnia, anxiety or depression. Approximately 8 million Americans suffer with some form of eating disorder and, unfortunately, only 10% receive treatment. Binge eating leads to a wide variety of health-related problems, such as heart disease, diabetes and high blood pressure.

We conduct research medication studies for adults with Binge Eating Disorder. If you are not sure if you suffer from BED and want to learn more, please contact us.

Find out if Binge Eating Disorder is a problem for you. PRI often conducts no-cost to you medication research studies for BED.
